Whether you already live in Old Town Pasadena or are looking for a great time to visit, these are the Pasadena events you won’t want to miss from April to June.
Music, Martinis, and the Maestro, April 9, May 14, 1:30pm
This exclusive concert series in the Sofia Ballroom at Noor in Paseo Colorado Noor offers the unique opportunity to “experience an intimate performance by members of the Cal Phil Orchestra as well as an interactive talk with Maestro Victor Vener.” Only 240 seats are available, with 10 per table. The April 9 concert is Brilliant Brass: 500 Years of Brass Music; May 14 features Pezzone and Friends.
Rose Bowl Flea Market, April 9, May 14, June 11, 5am–3pm
People come from far and wide to browse among the 2,500 vendors featuring antiques, furniture, and art on the second Sunday of every month, as do celebrities and interior designers looking for a unique piece to add to their decor. Make a day of it by checking out one of Pasadena’s favorite restaurants and making an appointment to tour Villas at the Ambassador Gardens, the newest community of luxury townhomes in Old Town Pasadena.

10th Annual Concorso Ferrari, April 23, 10am–4pm
Get ready for Old Town to turn into Ferrari central, with vintage and contemporary versions of the Italian sports car lining Colorado Boulevard during this exciting event. More than 140 Ferraris will be featured, along with vendors and sponsors showcasing exotic automotive accessories and detailing, plus apparel, travel, and food.
Caltech Symphony Free Concert, April 23, 3:30pm
Held in Caltech’s Ramo Auditorium, this free afternoon of concerto movements features Caltech student soloists under the direction of Allen Robert Gross. The concert opens with Mozart’s overture to Cosí fan tutte.
Beethoven Symphony No. 9, April 29, 2pm and 8pm
Pasadena events include the opportunity to take advantage of an opportunity to see Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 performed at the historic Ambassador Auditorium. Two shows will feature “a celebration of the human spirit in its most pure and highest form.”
Doggy Day…with Cat Too, April 29, 10am–1pm
One of several family-friendly Pasadena events, Doggy day welcomes four-legged friends to Pasadena’s Garfield Park for live music, arts and crafts, an array of vendors showcasing animal-related services and products, food and drink for purchase, and a performance from Disc Dogs of Southern California.
28th Annual Bungalow Heaven Home Tour, April 30, 10am–4pm
Pasadena’s bungalows are world-famous, and the neighborhood called Bungalow Heaven is included on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. This is your opportunity to see them up close. The 28th annual tour of this historic district is self-guided with docent-led commentary inside the homes, and you can also catch the Bungalow Heaven trolley for “45-minute narrated bus tours of Landmark District architecture for $10 per person.” Restoration demos and food trucks are also part of the event.
Pasadena Restaurant Week, Apr 30–May 5
Explore some of Pasadena’s award-winning dining establishments and discover a few new faves during one of the city’s annual Pasadena events. You’ll get a taste of why Pasadena is such a foodie city! Prix fixe lunch and dinner menus are offered at special prices. Participating restaurants include: Alma de la Rosa; Bistro 45; Cafe Bizou; Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar; Green Street Restaurant; Il Fornaio; Kathleen’s; POP Champagne and Dessert Bar; The Raymond; Real Food Daily; Ruth’s Chris Steak House; Sushi Roku; The Terrace at the Langham Huntington Hotel; and Vertical Wine Bistro.
Masters of Taste, May 7
This second annual Pasadena food & wine festival at the Rose Bowl celebrates high-end food and beverage, with “samplings from L.A.’s best restaurants, wineries, craft breweries and mixologists.” Even better, 100% of the proceeds from the event will benefit Union Station Homeless Services, a non-profit organization committed to helping homeless individuals rebuild their lives.
Distinguished Speaker Series: Captain Scott Kelly in Pasadena, May 10, 8pm
Hear captivating tales from NASA astronaut Captain Scott Kelly, who will recount the experience of living for a full year in space, along with reflections on the challenges involved in, and the future of, space travel. Captain Kelly will be speaking at the Ambassador Auditorium on the historic Ambassador College campus.
Amgen Tour of California, May 20
Called “America’s Greatest Cycling Race,” the Amgen Tour of California is a Tour de France-style cycling road race that has included some of the finest racers in the world, and that finishes this year right in Pasadena. The event includes a daylong Lifestyle Festival held at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium that’s “designed to provide healthy lifestyle and cycling-related experiences, with cycling products and demos, family activities, food, and entertainment.
Street Food Cinema, May 20, 5:30pm
Street Food Cinema brings a movie plus live music and a variety of dining options from top food trucks to different locales, including Pasadena’s Victory Park for the classic film, Clueless, on May 20. Food trucks will include: OODBanh Mi, Lobsta Truck, Rodney’s Ribs, Son of a Bun, Street Kitchen LA, and La Puff. You can pre-purchase tickets here.
U2: The Joshua Tree Tour 2017, May 20–21, 6pm
U2 fans have been waiting to see favorite album, The Joshua Tree, performed in its entirety. They’ll get their chance over two nights at The Rose Bowl, as part of the legendary group’s limited run of stadium tours celebrating the iconic album’s 30th anniversary.
Music Under the Stars 2017, June 3, 6pm
This free concert under the stars at Pasadena City Hall features the Pasadena Symphony and POPS. “POPS conductor Larry Blank leads the orchestra in a celebration of music from Broadway, Hollywood and the Great American Songbook.” The event also includes gourmet food trucks, a musical instrument petting zoo, and family activities.
Pasadena Chalk Festival, June 17–18, 10am–7pm
One pst the pasadena events locals most look forward to, Paseo Colorado hosts the 25th Annual Pasadena Chalk Festival, with “over 600 skilled chalk artists from all over the world” celebrating and exhibiting this unique art form. The free two-day event features hundreds of Madonnari (Italian for street painter) creating “spectacular murals on concrete canvases throughout the shopping plaza that stretches over three city blocks.” Expect to see more than 25,000 chalk sticks and some truly unique art.
