On January 1, it will happen again. Pasadena will host the annual Rose Parade<\/a>, and thousands of people across the country will gaze at the colorful floats and enjoy the marching bands. They\u2019ll see impossibly scenic shots of the city. They\u2019ll hear the hosts repeat over and over what a beautiful, warm, sunshiny day it is in Southern California. And those watching from less idyllic locales (weather-wise, anyway) will start making plans to move to Pasadena<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s hard not to be inspired by better weather when snow is stacked up outside your door or daydream about living in one of the most desirable areas across the country, especially when it\u2019s being splashed across your television set. Not surprisingly, the Rose Parade has been the impetus for many a cross-country move.<\/p>\n

And then they vow somehow, someday, to move to Southern California.\u201d<\/p>\n

This article and numerous others recount tales of people across the country, who \u201cmarveled at the sight of the Pasadena spectators, people \u2018inadequately dressed\u2019 for most other parts of the country on New Year’s Day, \u2018people with no hats, no gloves, no mittens.\u2019 According to a study from moving and storage company SpareFoot<\/a>, one in 10 people relocate because of the weather. And, interestingly enough, it was \u201ca severe Indiana winter during 1872\u201373 (that) prompted a group of friends from Indianapolis to form an investment group with the purpose of moving to the warmer climate of Southern California,\u201d according to the City of Pasadena\u2019s website<\/a>. \u201cSent to scout the area, D. M. Berry recommended purchasing a portion of the Rancho San Pasqual, which later became Pasadena.\u201d<\/p>\n
